In 2009 Jon led a Management Buy-Out of a private company’s public services division, including a training business, soon re-named Astral Training Ltd. The business expanded into SFA-funded employability work in its home region of the Derbyshire Peaks. Astral delivered to 450+ employed learners across the East and West Midlands, Yorkshire & Humber and the Northwest of England –focusing on its core sector of Health & Social Care. He then successfully sold Astral Training to a large national charity.
Jon also headed up the not-for-profit Nottinghamshire Training Network (NTN) as Chair for several years, a sub-regional membership organisation holding a direct SFA contract for apprenticeship delivery. Membership of the Network doubled under Jon’s chairmanship to over seventy, including employers, colleges, schools and other training organisations.
Jon is currently a Non-Executive Director of Ixion Holdings Ltd – the not-for-profit trading arm of Anglia Ruskin University. Ixion is a large provider of SFA-funded programmes across apprenticeships, ESF, traineeships and learner loans – on the latter it is one of the three largest providers in England. Ixion’s training delivery covers diverse sectors such as Construction and Healthcare.
